Description
The Chrysanthos Underglaze Pencil is a versatile and creative tool for adding colorful hand-drawn designs to your bisque pieces or simply marking your ware. It can be used at a low temperature of Cone 06 and can go as high as Cone 10.
These nontoxic pencils are entirely safe to use and do not contain lead. We want you to have complete peace of mind as you explore your creativity. However, it’s worth noting that the colors may fade slightly as the temperature is increased. This means that the final strength of the color will depend on specific firing conditions.
The colors are quite resilient to smudging, but to ensure your design remains intact, it’s best to slightly sponge over it with clear glaze before brushing or dipping.
Usage
Chrysanthos Underglaze Pencils are lead-free and non toxic and are intended for use on bisque where it is desired to create a fine line or shade. They can also be used for identification or marking test pieces.
Application
After application of Underglaze Pencil color to bisque, the color should be coated with a clear glaze before firing to the glazes maturing temperature. The first coat of glaze should be sponged on over the Underglaze Pencil design to prevent the design from coming off if a brush on glaze is used. If the glaze is to be sprayed on or dipped on, it is not necessary to sponge any glaze on over the Underglaze Pencil design.
Note that unlike regular pencils—care must be taken in sharpening Underglaze Pencils. Do not use a pencil sharpener. It is best to sharpen them with a knife or blade.

Chrysanthos Underglaze Pencils may be fired between cone 06 (999°C) and cone 10 (1,305°C).
