Who doesn’t love chocolate in February? Here at Stone Leaf we prefer clay Chocolate, and think it’s much more romantic to gift someone (or yourself!) a heavy box of gorgeous clay. Our Clay of the Month is New Mexico Chocolate—a Hershey chocolate brown stoneware that approaches a rich, dark hue once fired. This smooth clay offers a texture similar to porcelain but its superior plasticity makes it exceptionally easy to throw. It is ideal for creating striking pieces with glazes that pop against its deep, dark color. So delicious you’ll be tempted to eat it (though we don’t recommend it, as it is still clay), this mid-fire brown body is sure to become your next favorite.
