January Newsletter

Happy New Year to our beloved pottery community! We’re stoked to start this year off right with restocked shelves and a fabulous team. Our New Year’s resolution is to make better and bolder things, both as artists and as your favorite ceramic goods retailer. Let the Stone Leaf doors reopen to make way for 2024!

Ready to see what’s out there in this gorgeous fresh start of a new year? Get ready, because the answer is: PLENTY!

You are invited to attend one of Stone Leaf Pottery’s Electric Kiln Workshops.

This kiln workshop is primarily tailored to new-ish customers owning an electric kiln. Still, all levels of firing experience are welcome.

Pre-registration is required to attend.

If you have purchased a kiln from Stone Leaf in the last 2 years, this workshop is free to you. One kiln = one workshop seat. Otherwise, cost for this class is $75.

Onto our specials:

CLAY OF THE MONTH

Laguna Whitestone moist clay is on sale during January at Stone Leaf Pottery in Denver Colorado

Whitestone by Laguna, 15% off for up to 100#

We’re starting off the year right with a lovely blank slate, and what’s better for that than Whitestone? The porcelaneous stoneware, previously part of Laguna’s standard line, is now ordered and made specially for Stone Leaf Pottery: hence, we call it our “house clay”. This clay fires a creamy white color, and reflects glazes beautifully due to the brightness of the body. We love the structural support the sand provides, as well as the look from the porcelain. It’s the best of both worlds!

Want to see an example of Whitestone? Check out this post from Stone Leaf’s Facebook page!

TOOL OF THE MONTH

All brushes 15% off

You can’t go wrong with this special. This applies to all of the brushes in our store! For those who paint on slip, who need both the large hakes and the three-haired details, who glaze like there’s no tomorrow, this is your opportunity to go nuts! Every brush in our store is discounted, so if you were to ever pick up a supply for 2023, take advantage of this awesome deal. If you need help selecting one, ask a sales member at the front desk!

Want a complete list of Stone Leaf’s brushes? Take a look at this page of our website!

GLAZE OF THE MONTH

Mayco Jungle Gems, 4 oz jars 20% off for up to 12 jars

Mayco’s Jungle Gems Crystal Glazes are a customer favorite around Stone Leaf, so we thought we might as well make a special out of them! These wild glazes transform in the kiln when the small pieces of glass frit burst into color and intricate patterns during the firing process. Artists use these beautiful glazes to add dramatic, colorful effects to their creations. Jungle Gems can be a blast because they can look so different depending on application. Try lots of different ways to vary the crystal look!

Want to see some experimental Jungle Gems inspiration? Check out this Pinterest search.

There’s also this fantastic video made by our friend Carmen over in Mayco!

That’s all for now, folks! Happy potting and stay warm in this chilly weather, and we look forward to seeing you around the store.

All Clay of the Month purchases are limited to 100# of clay. The sale price is valid only in January 2024 and not combinable with other discounts.

It's not uncommon for us to run out of the clay (s) of the Month, so we always suggest you shop early in the Month to ensure the clay is in stock. Also, when purchasing Glaze or Tool(s), or Equipment of the Month, again, it's limited to products on hand. So, if we don't have it when you shop, come shop with us again soon! We replenish our shelves constantly—we'll hopefully have more soon! Got more questions about how this works? Please, please reach out to us!
