WC817 Calico by Laguna Clay

Information from Stone Leaf Pottery:

Calico is a versatile cone 5/6 stoneware known for its warm, speckled appearance. Its speckles beautifully enhance glazes, creating a rustic and refined look. A phenomenal clay body that throws smoothly and fires gritty, Calico works well for all forming methods and levels of experience. It also offers good durability and minimal warping, making it a favorite for both functional and decorative pottery. Calico’s texture and color make it a great choice for potters looking to achieve an organic, earthy aesthetic. Its 60 mesh sand gives a medium texture.

This is Ingrid’s take on Calico:

This is Laguna’s cone 5/6 Calico clay. I made it in 2010. It is glazed with Laguna’s MS-20 Royal Blue glaze and wiped back from the non-recessed areas. I hung it in my back yard. Here it is keeping company with an English cucumber. I leave it out year round, but please note, there are no areas where water can be trapped, frozen, expand, and not escape, cracking the piece.
