GLAZE OF THE MONTH
AMACO Potter’s Choice Flux (PCF) - 10% off

The series that grew from your favorite Honey Flux is now on special at our store! Try a variety of pints that will change your glazing technique. These include Honeydew, Cirrus Flow, Midnight Run, Flux Blossom, River Birch and Moss Mist. Each can bring a unique touch to your pieces as bases, mid-layers and toppers! Want something new? Take any of these glazes and put a goopy line at the top of your next vase. These glazes are vivid on textured surfaces where the glazes can break and show the clay body color. They work well alone, or to soften, or intensify movement on your pottery.

Now, for Ingrid’s Tip of the Month:

Keep Notes!

“My first pottery class was at UND, the fall of 1970. Yes, I’m coming up on 54 years of producing pottery. Good grief, I’m old. Some things I do remember, other things I don’t. For me, what is of most interest are glaze combinations that I have used over the decades. I started at cone 8, and it’s unlikely I will return to glaze firing at cone 8, and even more unlikely I would wish to use the recipes I invented for cone 8 glazes. But many of the layering combinations of glaze that I have used at cone 5/6 over the last decades, I have forgotten. Now I keep notes, and at times brush stroke with black underglaze or a black underglaze pencil on the underside of the piece I am trying something new on. Take it from me, you won’t remember what you did on thousands of pots. Keep notes!”

August is chock full of opportunities to see some local art. These events include a variety of local and independent artists we’re excited to see!

Speaking of art, our gallery has been seeing lots of artists’ work lately, which we’re ecstatic to feature! Swing by our store’s gallery next time you visit for a gorgeous variety of pottery and other goods.

We’re kicking off with the 34th Annual 2024 Golden Fine Arts Festival, happening August 10-11 and featuring art, live entertainment, libations, and food vendors. Check out a reputable juried art show and enjoy the day!

The Park Hill Arts Fest “Summer Edition” will take place August 17-18. It’ll be an awesome event and juried art show in the historic Park Hill neighborhood.

The Art Students League of Denver’s Summer Art Market is going on August 24-25, featuring a plethora of artwork along with demonstrations by experts. Buy tickets in advance!

Finally, August 25 we have the 13th annual Affordable Arts Festival from 9am to 3pm! All art sells at $150 or less on the campus of Arapahoe Community College, where a collection of artists from across the country will gather to vend. It’s a great opportunity for some incredible deals.

That’s all for now, folks! Happy potting and we look forward to seeing you around the store!
