How To Fire Your Electric Kiln
Saturday, December 7
9 am to 4 pm
Does your kiln freak you out? Do you have a love/fear relationship with your kiln? Or maybe you panic anytime something goes wrong? At Stone Leaf, we know firing a kiln can be a stressful experience. Properly firing an electric kiln, as well as learning tips and tricks for successful firing can take years to learn. Tips include: don’t put dogs on kilns.
Luckily, Ingrid King, Stone Leaf’s owner and studio manager, teaches a workshop designed to help ease your firing anxiety. Ingrid has been firing kilns for over 40 years, in her homes and a variety of classroom and studio situations.
This all day workshop includes suggestions on how to load your kiln, troubleshooting, general maintenance issues, and a question/answer session. Come to this workshop with questions of your own, and be prepared to take notes! Our goal during this workshop is to help you feel more comfortable with your kiln. A lunch break will take place roughly from 12 to 1 pm.
Workshop attendees will receive a 75+ page booklet Ingrid has written about firing kilns, including many helpful diagrams.
